What Is the Locrian Score?

Your Brand Has a Number. Do You Know What It Is?

The Locrian Score is a 0-to-1000 measure of your brand's total value. Think of it like a credit score, but for your brand. Instead of measuring financial history, it measures nine dimensions of brand strength — everything from how protected your name is to how engaged your audience is.

Whether you're a musician, YouTuber, podcaster, or building a business, the Locrian Score gives you one number that tells you where you stand and what to improve.

The 9 Dimensions

Every Locrian Score is built from nine individual component scores, each rated 0 to 100:

1. IP Strength — How legally defensible is your brand name? This combines trademark availability, distinctiveness, conflict exposure, and portfolio breadth into one measure of defensibility. A strong name that's legally clear scores high.

2. Digital Presence — Do you own your domain? Are your social handles claimed? Is your brand showing up in Google Trends? This measures your digital footprint.

3. IP Portfolio — Beyond your name, what intellectual property do you own? Registered trademarks, copyrights, music catalog, and other assets all count here.

4. Content Value — How much content have you created across platforms? YouTube videos, podcast episodes, books, and other media contribute to your content library's value.

5. Audience Metrics — How big and engaged is your audience? This looks at followers, engagement rates, and growth across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, and Spotify.

6. Revenue Signals — Is your brand generating money? E-commerce presence, merchandise, link-in-bio monetization, and other revenue indicators are measured here.

7. Partnership Readiness — Would a sponsor want to work with you? This evaluates your brand safety, professional presence, collaboration history, and media kit readiness.

8. Operational Sustainability — Is your brand built to last? Business entity formation, revenue diversification, team structure, and key-person risk are all factored in.

9. AI Search Visibility — Does your brand show up when people ask AI? This measures how prominently your brand surfaces in responses from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and other AI search platforms.

How Scoring Works

Each dimension is scored independently using real data — not surveys or self-reports. We pull from public databases (including over 13 million records from the USPTO), social platforms, web data, and other sources to build an objective picture of your brand.

The nine component scores are weighted and combined into your overall Locrian Score out of 1000. Different verticals (musician, YouTuber, business) have slightly different weightings that reflect what matters most in each industry.

Score Tiers

Your overall score places you in a tier:

  • Fortissimo (900–1000) — Elite brand. Top-tier protection, massive audience, diversified revenue.
  • Forte (800–899) — Powerhouse. Strong across nearly every dimension.
  • Mezzo-Forte (700–799) — Solid foundation with room to grow in specific areas.
  • Mezzo-Piano (500–699) — Building momentum. Key areas need attention to reach the next level.
  • Piano (300–499) — Early stage. Significant gaps to address.
  • Pianissimo (0–299) — Needs attention. Major work needed across multiple dimensions.
